75. Can I Really Do Anything With This Liberal Arts Major? With Tim Grassley
In this episode, I interview Tim Grassley, from the University of Colorado at Boulder, College of Arts and Sciences. In this episode we talk about:
-Going from engineering, then computer science, then literature majors, then into a creative writing Master’s degree. He has worked as a landscaper in Austria, a carpenter, grant writing, founded an anti-trafficking organization in India, barista at Starbucks, higher education as an academic advisor, training and development, and now into marketing and branding.
-How the pool for students is shrinking, giving students more options because institutions will compete for students
-Going from getting A’s and feeling like an idiot in one major and transitioning to literature, getting worse grades, but getting the validation he needed
-What it’s like to feel overwhelmed with the idea that “You can do anything with this major”
-Leaving Texas (it’s a big deal!)
-Anxiety around getting a job and picking “the right” thing
-How Liberal Arts can help you study widely, develop critical thinking skills, and the ability to rapidly adapt.
-How to prepare for a job that doesn’t exist yet ----- Thinking about doing an entire podcast on this one… you interested!?!?

74. What I Wish I Would Have Known About or Done in College - Part 1
This episode was so fun! In the episode Alicia and Brie talk about several comments made when asked about the question - What do you wish you would have known about in college, or done in college? We got an overwhelming response and it was so much fun to talk about!
We talked about:
-Making Human Connections and Networking
-Several graduates wish they would have done a different degree
-Wish they would have taking more classes that they actually wanted to take (like glassblowing, business-type classes, marketing, etc.) because you are PAYING FOR IT.
-Dealing with perfection and taking the stress and pressure off
-How to navigate romantic relationships
STAY TUNED FOR PART 2!
